Fabulous Chocolate Pudding Cake

fabchoccakeIf you’ve ever longed for a go-to dessert to welcome new neighbors, express warm wishes to a convalescing neighbor, or put the finishing touches on your next pot-luck social, this  recipe may well be it. It misses our Five or Fewer cooking category by containing seven ingredients, but the speed with which you can dump, mix, and bake more than makes up for a couple of extra pantry staples it requires. It’s a chocolate cake without tasting too rich, and it the pudding and sour cream combo make it the moistest cake we’ve ever tasted. Enjoy. 


  • 1 yellow cake mix
  • 1 small Jello Instant Pudding package, chocolate fudge flavor
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips  


Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients but the chips. Stir in the chips. Grease and flour a bundt pan. Pour batter into pan. Bake 50 minutes. Note: Cake may look wet when ready.
