PB2 Chocolate Banana Milkshake

Made mostly of almond milk and bananas, we almost called this a smoothie. But this rich, vegan variation on a milkshake from www.detoxinista.com tastes so decadent, we hate to limit it to a “health food” category. Works great as a meal replacement or a sweet treat, it will hit the spot, says nutritionist Megan Gilmore, “without the sluggish after-effects from a traditional ice cream shake.”


  • 4 Tbsp PB2
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 7 ice cubs (about 2 handfuls) (optional)


Mix dry PB2 and water in a small bowl. Put peanut butter mixture into high-powered blender. Add all other ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy.
